The Story Behind The Manse Medical Name
Manse Medical has special meaning behind its name. The Hamilton practice is situated in an old manse, once the residence of a minister and his family. The building, which has been beautifully preserved exudes a sense of history and tradition, befitting for a medical practice that values compassionate care and a personal touch.
However, the name Manse Medical also has a more personal meaning for Dr Andrew Bradbeer, the founder and CEO. Dr Bradbeer spent his childhood in country church manses, as his father served as a minister in those country towns. The manse was not just a place of residence, but also a hub of activity, where members of the local community or people passing through town would come to seek practical help, support or comfort.
This experience, which was not always conducive to a peaceful family life, instilled in Dr Bradbeer a deep respect for a model of community life where help and assistance were available to everyone who rang the doorbell and was happy to come inside and tell their story. Naming his medical practice after the environment in which he grew up is a testament to his values and his commitment to the goal of providing patient-centred care.
