How To Prepare For Your Test

We understand that medical testing can feel overwhelming but rest assured, we’re here to simplify the process for you. Simply scroll below to find your test and read the guidelines that cover common questions such as clothing, medication, beverages and more.

How to prepare for your sleep test:

CPAP (In-Lab) Sleep Test

Clothing:
  • Bring sleepwear consisting of both tops and bottoms.
  • You may also bring your own pillow and/or doona if you wish.

 

Medication:
  • Medication that you would normally take for an overnight stay.
  • Withhold medication prior to study if advised to do so.

Additional:
  • CPAP equipment if already using therapy.

Diagnostic (In-Lab) Sleep Test

Clothing:
  • Bring sleepwear consisting of both tops and bottoms.
  • You may also bring your own pillow and/or doona if you wish.

 

Medication:
  • Medication that you would normally take for an overnight stay.
  • Withhold medication prior to study if advised to do so.

Additional:
  • Bring MAS if already on therapy.

Home Sleep Test

Clothing:
  • If you are being set up with the device prior to leaving Manse Medical, we ask that you wear loose and comfortable clothing as you will not be able to change or shower afterwards.

 

Medication:
  • As normal.

Maintenance of Wakefulness Test

Clothing:
  • Bring sleepwear consisting of both tops and bottoms.
  • You may also bring your own pillow and/or doona if you wish.

 

Medication:
  • Medication that you would normally take for an overnight stay, with stimulants as an exception.

Additional:
  • No caffeine or stimulants.
  • Bring any paperwork that you were asked to complete such as a sleep diary.
  • If having the study in a non-hospital location, please bring your own meals and snacks.
  • Consider bringing some form of entertainment such as a book or smart device as the test will span the entire day.

Multiple Sleep Latency Test

Clothing:
  • Bring sleepwear consisting of both tops and bottoms.
  • You may also bring your own pillow and/or doona if you wish.

 

Medication:
  • Medication that you would normally take for an overnight stay, with stimulants as an exception.
  • Withhold medication prior to study if advised to do so.

Additional:
  • No caffeine or stimulants.
  • Bring any paperwork that you were asked to complete such as a sleep diary.
  • If having the study in a non-hospital location, please bring your own meals and snacks.
  • Consider bringing some form of entertainment such as a book or smart device as the test will span the entire day.

How to prepare for your respiratory test:

6-Minute Walk Test

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing and footwear.

 

Medication:
  • As normal.

Bronchial Provocation Test

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing.

 

Medication:

Additional:
  • No caffeine or stimulants.
  • No vigorous exercise on the morning of the test.
  • Test is performed sitting down.

Gas Transfer

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing.

 

Medication:
  • Withhold from any inhalers the day of your test. 
Additional:
  • Test is performed sitting down.

Lung Function Testing

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing.

 

Medication:
  • Withhold from any inhalers the day of your test. 
Additional:
  • Test is performed sitting down.

MIPS/MEPS

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing.

 

Medication:
  • Withhold from any inhalers the day of your test. 
Additional:
  • Test is performed sitting down.

Spirometry

Clothing:
  • Comfortable clothing.

 

Medication:
  • Withhold from any inhalers the day of your test. 
Additional:
  • Test is performed sitting down.
