About the Role

As a Clinical Assistant, you’ll support both clinical and administrative workflows to ensure patients receive exceptional care. This is a varied, hands-on role with training provided across key areas including:
  • CPAP therapy support
  • Home sleep testing
  • Lung function testing
  • Patient communication and education
  • Equipment setup, hygiene, and maintenance
  • Clinical room support and preparation
  • Patient check-in, record management, and referral processes
You’ll work closely with clinicians and administrative staff to maintain a smooth, safe and welcoming environment for all patients. Key Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing patients for consultations and basic clinical assessments
  • Recording clinical observations (e.g., pulse, BP, lung assessments, CPAP downloads)
  • Assist clinicians during consultations and support clinical room setup/pack-down
  • Support patients with CPAP use, mask fittings, and therapy adherence
  • Prepare and process home sleep test equipment
  • Assist with spirometry and basic lung function tests (training provided)
  • Maintain accurate patient records, referrals and appointment workflows
  • Provide warm, professional communication with patients and external stakeholders
  • Uphold infection control, safety, and quality standards

About You

Applicants must be:
  • Professional, caring and patient-focused
  • A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Organised, punctual, and efficient with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to adapt in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Tech-savvy with good literacy and numeracy
  • Keen to learn new clinical skills and grow within the team
Bonus experience (not required):
  • CPAP therapy, retail or healthcare support experience
  • Lung function testing exposure
  • Knowledge of sleep or respiratory disorders
  • Qualifications in Science, Applied Science or Nursing

About the Role

This diverse position involves supporting clinical research projects while also assisting in the delivery of lung function testing within our respiratory service. This is a part-time role, with flexibility required during busy periods. Travel between Ballarat and St Albans may be required. Key Responsibilities include:
  • Participant recruitment, consent, and data collection
  • Coordinating research visits and maintaining study documentation
  • Conducting lung function testing (e.g., spirometry, FeNO) under ATS/ERS standards
  • Ensuring equipment calibration and patient safety during tests
  • Accurate data entry and management
  • Supporting respiratory and research teams with administrative tasks

About You
